Programs

An educational program, entitled "POWER Planning: Putting Passion's Punch Into Philanthropy," is offered for presentation throughout the country. This program has received continuing education credit (and where requested, also received required and valuable ethics credits), making the program desirable from the vantage point of both the sponsoring organizations (to attract advisors with whom to develop relationships) and the advisors themselves.

This program has been very successful. At recent presentations of the program over 85% of the attendees rated the program "excellent" or "very good". Sample comments from attendees include the following:

  • "The best planned giving seminar I've attended in 10 years."
  • "Excellent presentation of charitable planning beyond tax issues."
  • "Outstanding program."

At the outset, programs will be directed toward the advisor population as a whole. However, studies show that there are distinctions among the various advisor populations, and in the future, programs will be targeted and refined for specific categories of advisors, i.e. attorneys, accountants, financial advisors, etc.

A companion program for donors is also available. "What's My LINE?" is a program designed to help donors create and enjoy a satisfying and effective giving program.

A critical component of the Project's purpose is to increase client satisfaction in the planning process. Fortunately, the processes which do so are in many ways identical to those which increase philanthropic contribution. Thus, advisors benefit in the short term from the continuing education credits available from these programs, and in the long term from the enhanced reputation that will come from increased client satisfaction. Since the estate tax laws are likely to be significantly modified, sophisticated estate planning for tax savings alone is likely to be less critical, and advisors will have to find other ways to distinguish themselves. The Advisors Project provides one extremely useful means to do so.
